It finally came our way....
I find it amazing how God places treasures in your heart from a child. Since a young girl I have had a heart for the world tucked inside. My Mom used to read us a book called "Around the World with my Red Balloon" by V. Gilbert Beers. I have always had a love people all over the world and have flown a "balloon" over to spend time with them. I read it to my kids... The story goes... two kids fly their balloon all over the world sharing the Gospel message. My Mom and Dad were implanting seeds and now these seeds are rooted in my family.
After living in Uganda for 2 years with our kids and leaving our heart there, we are now going to fly our "balloon" to bring home our daughter from Africa. My youngest son and I have felt like someone was missing every time we went somewhere. I'd count heads, get to 4 and think, "whose missing?" And so.....it finally came our way..adoption.
This is not us needing another child or following a trend as some might think. It's our joy to act in obedience to this call God has placed on our hearts. It is a mandate to care for Widows and Orphans the bible says. And though we served in an amazing orphanage for two years and still sponsor our kids there, it wasn't enough for our family.
This is from the depths of us,
Rue
P.S. My youngest said first thing, "I'm going to have to teach her to shoot a NERF gun." She's going to be a tough cookie with our bunch :)
